The time has finally come to close the doors on this wonderful, crazy and successful design business.
Studio Tonic came into being in December 2009 when Sarah Gamtcheff asked if I'd like to help her out on a big hotel project. We put our heads together and decided to join forces in business even though that particular project never eventuated!
Studio Tonic has always highly valued client relationships. The majority of our business came from referral and recommendation. Working together with you and your stakeholders was part of the fun of our business, and we tried to make the most of each diverse project experience.
In early 2014 Sarah took up another opportunity and I commenced my Masters of Project Management from which I have now graduated. We are still the best of friends in case you are wondering and she has continued to be a valued Studio Tonic sounding board.
In late 2016 I was approached by the contracting team at Built in South Australia to join their business (www.built.com.au). It has been great to be back in a team, and I'm enjoying being back in the City too. The brain is really being stretched, which is exhausting and fantastic in equal measure. I look forward to continuing my role with this great local team to build our profile in South Australia and am therefore finally ready to say goodbye to the challenges, successes, pitfalls and excitement of running a design consultancy in Adelaide.
So an enormous THANK YOU to Sarah for asking me to join her in this mad idea 7.5 years ago, and to my husband Jason for supporting such a baseless scheme. To Roget's Thesaurus for helping us settle the name, and to all the amazing people in our industry who offered assistance, advice, good wishes, recommendations, reality checks, drinks and support throughout this time. Thanks also to our collaborators: engineers, contractors, suppliers, drafters, interior designers, architects, project managers, graphic designers, lawyers, accountants, retail design managers and tenancy coordinators. You have all been wonderful partners and advocates for Studio Tonic.
And MOST especially to our fabulous clients who placed their faith in us, who paid us on time and who allowed us to maintain our gin habit. We have made great friends along the way through creating and growing this business, and it has been testing, rewarding, amazing, scary, exhilarating and exhausting, emotional and exciting - sometimes all in the same day!
