Local designer wins AM in Queen's Birthday honours

See the following story from the Design Institute of Australia. David Robertson is an iconic South Australian designer. This is not only a great accolade for him personally, but shows that design is valued in the wider community. Congratulations David!
"David Robertson AM LFDIA, an Accredited Designer, member of the DIA Hall of Fame, and multiple term Past National President of the DIA, has received a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours ‘for significant service to the design industry as a leader and as an advocate for innovation.’
The founder and principal of Icarus Design, an industrial and graphic design consultancy in Adelaide (and a DIA Practice Member), David Robertson served as National President of the DIA from 2000 to 2008.
His Hall of Fame citation describes him as ‘arguably … the single most significant contributor to the professionalisation of the design sector in the history of design in Australia’.
He played a pivotal role in co-ordinating the DIA’s state branches and national administration to create a strong and vibrant body of designers passionate about their industry, in addition to helping develop and consolidate the administrative, financial and marketing infrastructure of the DIA.
The author of many media articles and web publications that document the history and current state of the design sector in Australia, he also instituted the DIA’s biennial fee and salary surveys, changes to the DIA membership system, development of the DIA website and organising the DIA National Office as an autonomous operation with dedicated staff."
